Meet Mary.

She was introduced to the world in Eastern North Carolina and spent her formative years in New Bern where she lived with her mom, dad, and two older sisters.

Meet Monica.

Spending most of her golden years in Granbury, Texas, Mary’s Grandmother loved to spoil her and her sisters on their birthdays with gifts that she would send from far far away.

For her 5th birthday, Grandma Monica sent little Mary a wonderful gift unlike any she had seen before… a colorful treat of popcorn, candy, peanuts, and a sweet sticky goodness… a Popcorn Cake!

Mary and her sisters loved it so much they asked Grandma Monica to send more, any chance that she could. Grandma Monica did exactly that, and over the years the Popcorn Cake became a family tradition.

When Mary was all grown up, Grandma Monica passed the recipe on to her, and Mary started making them for friends as gifts, and on holidays, and other gatherings. People that saw them said what wonderful and unique creations they were and people that tasted them wanted more.

Mary soon found that many people love Popcorn Cakes as much as she does, so she decided to share this delicious treat with the rest of the world and Poppin’ Cakes was born!

Mary was a special education teacher for five years before starting Poppin’ Cakes. She lives in Wilmington, North Carolina where she makes all of her popcorn cakes. In addition to Internet-based orders, she sells her popcorn cakes as a vendor at the Downtown Wilmington Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings, and at the Poplar Grove Farmer's Market on Wednesday mornings. If you're in the area, stop by, say hello, and have a taste!
